that's pretty cool, i like how you... OH MY GOD YOUR EYE!!! *hides from your avatar*
hm. i was tempted to leave the comment at that, for comic effect, but i figure you'd rather a decent comment.
i wont ask about the minstrel thing, because you told me not to, but i will say that in thumbnail view, it looked like a cool planet next to a blue rectangle, and i was like rectangle?
the texture of the planet itself looks great, nice work. i think the atmosphere is a little thick and a little white, its a matter of balance, i suppose.
the lights which are cities look good, but it took me a second to realise they were cities... in future, i'd suggest zooming in a lot and using a much smaller brush, as you have with some of them, but where you've used bright larger ones i feel it detracts slightly. but that might just be my opinion
i'll say this: its WAY better than my first planet, considering that my first one was made using Photoshop 4.0 LE, which has no texture brush options. And in general its a pretty awesome planet. You've obviously read well on how to achieve the effect, with work you could produce some spectacular stuff.
summary: great work
